DisabilityInfo.gov - Federal government site provides access to disability-related information and programs available across the government on numerous subjects, including civil rights, community life, education, employment, housing, health, income support, technology and transportation.

AT508.com - Internet TV for Assistive Technology: ("the latest and greatest information on Assistive Technology and how it pertains to Section 508 is made available to everyone. Goal: To provide the public with a single point to find solutions to Section 508 compliance, and to showcase the companies responsible for the technological breakthroughs necessary to enable true Section 508 compliance." Current and archived videos of important events, products and commentary related to disability issues, conferences, and information as well as "subject matter expert" articles. Choice Employment ("premier recruiting resource targeted to assist people with disabilities. Choice has partnered with leading Fortune 500 companies to find the best jobs for the best people." Users submit a brief application on the first visit. Site states that their objectives are to "provide our corporate partners with efficent, quality service in order to meet their critical workforce needs, contributing to their overall success" and "provide our clients with access to employment opportunities through companies committed to hiring people with disabilities, promoting their dreams of independence.")

iCan Online (excellent site for the disability community. "iCan brings together content, community and resources in one place that is easy to navigate and welcomes your input." Goal is to become a site central to the disability community. "iCan will allow individuals to network and build their own support organization online." Review of site revealed an excellent career and employment search section that is national in scope and allows employment searching of job opportunities by each state. iCan features "15 community channels, all geared to improve the life of people with disabilities." Channels include: Travel, Employment, Shop@Home, Sports and Leisure, Self-Discovery and Relationships, Parents and Caregivers, Chat and Idea Exchange/Discussions, Classifieds, Money and Benefits, Independence and Daily Living, Volunteering and Community, Health and Fitness, Legislation and Advocacy, and Transportation.

Net-Temps: A World of Jobs Neatly Packaged  ("Net-Temps is an employment portal targeted specifically to the contract and temporary employment markets" with a stated "cross posting distribution of over 500 Internet search engines, online services and newsgroups as classified employment ads."   • O*NET Occupational Listings (Each occupational listing provides a complete list of O*NET-SOC occupations with their codes and titles. Two listings also include the definition for each occupation. The Introduction report provides an overview of the O*NET-SOC classification system and describes the four occupational listings. Although the introductory report and occupational listings were generated for the O*NET 3.1 Database, the occupational listings are consistent with the current O*NET database and information in the report is still relevant. National Supported Employment Consortium (research and technical assistance related to supported employment at Virginia Commonwealth University.)

Association for Persons in Supported Employment (APSE): "a membership organization formed in 1988 to improve and expand integrated employment opportunities, services, and outcomes for persons experiencing disabilities. To accomplish this mission, APSE provides advocacy and education to customers of supported employment (SE), i.e. supported employment professionals, consumers and their family members, and supported employers. Addresses issues and barriers which impede the growth and implementation of integrated employment services. Improves supported employment (SE) practice so that individuals and communities experience SE as a quality service with meaningful outcomes. Promotes national, state, and local policy development which enhances the social and economic inclusion and empowerment of all persons experiencing severe disabilities. Educates the public and the business community on the value of including persons experiencing severe disabilities as fully participating community members. 

Employment Training Resource: "Effective Training at Work" -   A COURSE FOR JOB COACHES AVAILABLE ON CD-ROM . A new 6-hour course on cd-rom is now available from the National Center for Disability Education and Training, a department in the University of Oklahoma's College of Continuing Education. Designed to expedite learning for new employees in the basics needed for successful training results, Effective Training at Work offers six hours of interactive lessons in more than ten topics. C. Owen Pollard, director of the Center, describes the course as "a powerful learning tool with depth and repetition that is hard to do in a classroom of 25 or more novice job coaches. It is packed with user-friendly exercises and hundreds of videos from experienced job trainers." "An important benefit of Effective Training at Work is its capacity to provide spontaneous and visual feedback to students and supervisors. There is no registration, waiting list or travel cost involved. New employees can start learning right away, any time, anywhere," said Mr. Pollard. The course was developed through contracts from the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services and will be used to supplement ongoing supported employment classroom training that is provided by the Department under contract with the University of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education. System requirements include: Windows 95 or higher, a Pentium II processor, 24-bit color, a 4x CD player and a sound card. Disability Law Resource Project (DLRP) ( "leading source for ADA technical assistance and training in the Region 6 area. Project staff with expertise in all areas of ADA are available via the toll-free hotline 1-800-949-4232. The DLRP is authorized by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation (NIDRR) to provide training and technical assistance on the ADA including information, materials, and technical assistance on the ADA.)

Job Accommodation Network (JAN) ( "JAN is not a job placement service, but an international consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of persons with disabilities." Also provides information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and links to other disability related sites.

Office of Disability Employment Policy for the Department of Labor: ( "In the FY 2001 budget, Congress approved a new Office of Disability Employment Policy for the Department of Labor. Programs and staff of the former President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities have been integrated in this new office. The mission of ODEP, under the leadership of an Assistant Secretary, will be to bring a heightened and permanent long-term focus to the goal of increasing employment of persons with disabilities.
