Course Description:

The challenge of the vocational evaluator is to help a client discover his or her best employment potential.  The client may ask: How can an employer use my skills and interests? Or, How will my community support me when I go to work?  Using a client centered and strengths based approach may help to answer these questions and also result in a customized employment plan.  Participants will learn about three techniques used in this process: the use of a conversational interview, the importance of acurate, non judgemental behavior observations across multiple sites, and documenting the service via rich descriptions and a complimentary visual resume.

Topics and Learning Objectives:

  • Day 1: The conversational Interview and Data Collection:
    • Describe the difference between a conversation, an interview and a conversational interview.
    • Identify how the clients background influenced success.
  • Day 2: Collecting Observational Data:
    • Explain how the role of a participant observer may influence the observation.
    • Evaluate writing samples to determine the writer's level of accurate, non-judgemental reporting.
  • Day 3: Documenting the Results:
    • Review qualitative features in report writing to include rich descriptions.
    • Describe a visual resume and its importance.

You must complete all 3 hours to receive the CRC credit. This class will take place in webinar format using Blackboard Collaborate.

Registration is $199 per person.
