This three hour class presents an opportunity to examine our personal thoughts about sexuality and disability.  It also allows us the opportunity to become more comfortable with the subject matter of the client’s deepest personal aspect. The goal of the class is to identify barriers to employment and ways we can effectively remove these barriers.

March 20, 21, and 22, 2019,  10:00 - 11:00 AM CST

To become more comfortable and knowledgeable about sexuality and disability we will discuss:

    • How the lack of social skills leaves young people vulnerable to exploitation in the workplace. In this day and age of the “Me Too” movement we realize that sexual exploitation needs to be addressed.
    • How socio-sexual development is a lifelong process and one that the rehabilitation professional can play a part in through education, counseling and guiding young people in building social skills as well as older clients.
    • We also recognize that abuse of men and women by personal assistants, as well as others, is more frequent in the disability community and is a barrier to good health and success in life.
    • Self-esteem, self-efficacy, developing a sense of self and sexuality is important in the development of everyone and does effect success in the workplace.
    • Explore some myths and misconceptions concerning sexuality and disability, intimate relationships and how they harm people with disabilities.

This webinar will be held with Collaborate Ultra.
