This class is an in-depth look at solution-focused counseling strategies. This class will give you the opportunity to learn strategies for collaborating with and supporting clients using their innate strengths and self-motivation to reach personal goals. It will also give you an opportunity to join discussions about counseling strategies and learn from your co-workers across the country.

 

Solution centered counseling and case management grew out of the field of family therapy in the 1980s. Paula Pottenger M.Ed. was directly involved with this approach, gaining experience at the famed Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic that was as the center of this movement. Paula incorporated solution-focused strategies in her counseling work in several states. Paula Pottenger, M.Ed. has more than 30 years’ experience in the rehabilitation field. You will earn 2.5 hours CRC credit upon completion of two one-hour and 15-minute sessions.

 

Paula Pottenger is an Organizational Development Specialist with University of Arkansas CURRENTS. She has worked for the University in several capacities since 1989.

Paula’s background includes providing Technical Assistance through several federal grants, at the state, regional and national levels. Prior to and during her UA service she developed service programs serving individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and hearing impaired. Paula previously served as both a counselor and a program director with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services’ Office for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. Paula currently contributes as a consultant and trainer focusing on systems, organizational strategic change, leadership development, survey design, and quality initiatives. Paula holds a Masters of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Academy for Executive Leadership.

Cancellation: To cancel your registration, send an email to currents@uacurrents.org. All registrants who have not cancelled at least 24 hours prior to class time will be invoiced.

Credit: Any credit for a class that you were unable to attend for unforseen circumstances must be used within one year of the date of the class.
