Session Description: VR Professionals have complicated, demanding, and rewarding jobs. One of the complications happens when there seems to be a conflict between law and ethical codes as well as standard of care.
In this highly interactive training, participants will have the opportunity to consider the distinction between laws and ethics, think about scenarios when these constructs appear to be in conflict, and employ useful tools and case studies to consider solutions to potential ethical and legal conflicts. Guidance from the ACA, APA and CRCC Code of Ethics will be utilized. Day two will cover complications that occur in boundary crossing and violations, and potential legal and ethical conflicts that may occur. Participants will practice differentiating between boundary crossings, violations, and laws, and generate problem solving scenarios to address these potential ethical and legal pitfalls.
Participants will learn the following:
1) The difference between laws and ethics
2) Guidance regarding what to do when laws and ethics seem to collide
3) Guidance from the ACA, APA, and CRCC Codes of Ethics
4) Utilizing case studies, apply the information learned in items 1-3
5) The difference between boundary crossings and boundary violations
